DANCING SOTTO LA PIOGGIA

Mi è sempre piaciuto camminare sotto la pioggia. Senza ombrello e senza indumenti impermeabili. Chissà come apparirebbe ora, piena d’acqua… I like very much walking while it is raining, without umbrella and raincoat. The rain drops that hit the skin and then flow down join the others, leaving a feeling of chilliness. The shirt sticks to the skin, wetting and heating at the same time… It is a beautiful feeling, not easy to explain. Few weeks ago I was at Navona square, a beautiful place downtown Rome. I was thinking 2000 years ago Romans filled this square with water like a big pool, in order to simulate sea fights and plays of water. If we could repeat now this, how square Navona would appear? I had no time to finish my flight of fancy that it started to rain. No doubt, in a few second I was in the rain. Tepid drops, fantastic. I started dancing a slow valzer: turn right, then turn left crossing of the third step… zum pa pa, zum pa pa… Nobody was looking my dance-alone: everybody was running away the rain, looking for a shelter or seeking for a small umbrella inside the bag… Fools, they don’t know what they missed! Don’t care about the red tie that left its permanent mark on my skirt, or of the coat that needs to be cleaned… I experienced moments of pure happiness. Dear Gene Kelly, I have nothing of your immense acrobatic skill, and I can just try to approach your dancing ability. Nevertheless, we have experienced the same emotion, when singing in the rain. It is a great mistake always to know enough to go in when it rains. One may keep snug and dry by such knowledge, but one misses a world of loveliness. ... nice post and undissembled sincerity... Olga

Welcome to the blog devoted to the 5 senses, Olga! Yes, you're right, everybody should prove the feelings of rain, it is a full immersion into the senses, from the smell to the taste and touch... not only in the simple water. Thanks for your empaty Grandesessa

Dear grandesessa, first of all: thanks a lot for the translation, seems you reached more readers with If I was on Piazza Navona (which I found soo nice), I definitely would take off your tie, not to reduce the damage on your shirt, but to make you feel the rain even better and join your waltz singing Leonard Cohen's: And you'll carry me down on your dancing To the pools that you lift on your wrist Oh my love, Oh my love Take this waltz, take this waltz It's yours now. It's all that there is Take this waltz, take this waltz With its "I'll never forget you, you know!" This waltz, this waltz, this waltz, this waltz ... But then I remember, I can not sing at all, I CAN`T STAND THE RAIN AGAINST MY WINDOW BRINGING BACK SWEET MEMORIES I CAN`T STAND THE RAIN AGAINST MY WINDOW BECAUSE HERE`S NOT HERE WITH ME HEY WINDOW PAIN DO YOU REMEMBER HOW SWEET IT USED TO BE WHEN WE WERE TOGETHER EVERYTHING WAS SO GRAND NOW THAT WE`VE PARTED THERE`S ONE SOUND THAT I JUST CAN`T STAND (by Tina Turner) Thanks for sharing your feelings Have a nice weekend Vero

Go outside, kiss the rain. Whenever you need me, kiss the rain whenever I'm gone, too long. If your lips feel lonely and thirsty kiss the rain and wait for the dawn. Keep in mind we're under the same sky and the nights as empty for me, as for you. If ya feel you can't wait till morning kiss the rain. Billy Myers Grandesessa

Loved the movie! I agree with your feelings about dancing in the rain. When I was a child I use to run outside every time a storm was coming. The dark skies, the blowing wind, even the thunder and lightening excited me. I danced and twrilled ecstatically!

Dear Marianna, welcome in the 5-sense blog! So, when you were a child you were happy dancing in the rain... What's about dancing today? I am convinced sometimes adults should think like a child, and behave accordingly! It maybe a trick to be happy once more... How do you think? Grandesessa
