| BE A LOVE LINGUIST |
Jun 18, 2008 4:21 am 399 Views | Today's Scripture
"Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say." (John 8:43)
Most of us grow up learning the language of our parents. As we grow up we might learn additional languages, usually with much more effort. Regardless of how many languages we speak our native tongue is still the easiest to speak and understand.
It is the same way in our relationships. We tend to give others the same kind of love and attention that is most familiar to us yet we are surprised when they don't understand what we are trying to communicate.
To some, actions speak louder than words, so they show their love through acts of service. To others, gifts of appreciation make them feel loved, so they tend to show their love to others by finding just the right gift.
Each of us needs to learn to speak a variety of languages if we are to successfully communicate to those we care for the most. The more we speak in these languages, the more comfortable we feel and the more those around us understand. By immersing ourselves in our spouse or children's love language, the more likely they are to receive our love and appreciation in the way we truly want them to.
A Prayer for Today
God, I will learn a new language this week so the people I love will understand how I feel about them. Help me discern the best way to communicate my love to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| COVER THE EARTH! |
Jun 17, 2008 4:22 am 410 Views | Today's Scripture
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)
Cover The Earth...that's the title of our church's worship music project, but it's also the call of God on the life of every believer. In Matthew 28, Jesus commissions all of us to take His life-changing, encouraging message of hope and salvation to the nations of the world.
We have good news for you today: Through gifts and service to a church or ministries like ours you are fulfilling the Great Commission. Hundreds accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior in church. It's where marriages are renewed and families are strengthened.
We pray that you continue to cover the earth with the glory of God. Continue to wake up each day with great anticipation of how God will use you to touch the lives of your family and the people in your work place, school, and neighborhood.
A Prayer for Today
God, I will be an instrument of Your peace. I want to cover the earth with Your message of hope and I will do that through my church and through missions and ministry. When I pray and when I serve, remind me to think locally and globally! In Jesus' name, Amen

| HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE |
Jun 16, 2008 1:59 am 428 Views | Today's Scripture
"Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days." (Psalm 90:14)
If certain things in your life were just a little bit "better," would you be happy? A better job, a better house, better health, better relationships?
The truth is, it only takes one thing for you to be happy. It takes a made-up mind. That's right, you have to decide that you are going to be happy regardless of your situation. You may have some obstacles to overcome, but don't let that steal your joy. Begin each day thinking of all the things you have to be thankful for. Decide each morning to declare as David did, "This is the day the Lord has made, I'm going to rejoice, and be glad in it."
If you don't get happy where you are, you will never get to where God wants you to be. It all begins with a grateful attitude. Let us encourage you to be content no matter what your circumstances. When you do, God will take you from victory to victory and you'll live the abundant, joy-filled life He has in store for you. Try it this week and see the difference your "attitude of gratitude" will make in your life.
A Prayer for Today
God, I have decided to be happy. I choose joy! No matter what happens today, I will sing Your praises and focus on the good things in my life-and share my attitude of gratitude with others! In Jesus' name, Amen.

| CHOOSE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH CARE |
Jun 13, 2008 3:47 am 494 Views | Today's Scripture
"When you walk with wise men, you will become wise, but a companion of fools will be destroyed." (Proverbs 13:20)
The quality of life is often determined by the quality of our relationships. Do you know that you will become like the people you associate with? If you constantly spend your time around lazy and undisciplined people, then before long, you're going to be lazy and undisciplined. But on the other hand, if you associate with successful people, then you're going to be successful. If you spend your time with people of vision, who are going places in life, you will be inspired to go further than you would on your own.
Take time to examine your friendships. Ask yourself, do I want to be like this person? Do I like their qualities? Do they inspire me to reach for new heights? As you choose to be around wise people, you will become wise too, and walk in the abundant life God has for you!
A Prayer for Today
God, I will choose my friends wisely. Open my eyes to the changes I need to make and give me the courage to distance myself from people that are dragging me down. Thank you for blessing me with wonderful Christian friends-may I be a blessing to them this day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| JESÚS PEACE IS IN YOU |
Jun 12, 2008 2:19 am 578 Views | Today's Scripture
"Cast your burdens on the Lord, releasing the weight of them and He will sustain you." (Psalm 55:22)
When you're at peace, you are in a position of power! When you go through adversities, the enemy fully expects you to get upset, lose your joy, complain, and host your own "pity party." He's devised a plan to keep you in an attitude of defeat. When you choose to obey God's Word and refuse to get upset, you break the forces of darkness and defeat the enemy in your life.
Jesus said in John 14:27, "I'm leaving you My peace. I'm giving it unto you." The Amplified version says, "Now stop allowing yourself to be agitated and disturbed. And do not permit yourselves to become unsettled." God has done His part to give you His peace. As a child of God, His peace is on the inside of you right now. You've got to do your part and make the decision to live in peace.
When negative circumstances arise, and you make the choice to stay calm and live in peace, you are showing that you have faith and trust in God. Today, choose to keep peace in your life. When you cast your burdens on Him, He promises to sustain you–that's a place of true peace, a place of lasting power!
A Prayer for Today
God, I know that You are in control, I know that You're going to see me through; I trust You. I know that no weapon formed against me is going to prosper. Today, I will focus on the peace inside of me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| CHANGE YOUR WORDS, CHANGE YOUR WORLD |
Jun 11, 2008 4:22 am 553 Views | Today's Scripture
"Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put devious lips far from you." Proverbs 4:23-24
We want to encourage you today to watch what you are saying. Your words have creative power and you can use them as a destructive force or as an instrument of blessing. If you continually speak negative words over your life, then eventual defeat will be the result. In the same way, if you speak words of faith and victory, you will see a harvest of blessing not only in your own life, but also in the lives of those around you.
Remember your mother telling you: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?" That was good advice. Don't give life to your negative thoughts by speaking them out. You can't continue to speak negative words filled with doubt and unbelief and expect to have a positive life full of joy and hope. You can change your situation by changing your words. Talk about your visions, your dreams. Declare that you can do all things through Christ and that you are more than a conqueror.
When you find yourself in a difficult situation, don't say the first thing that pops into your head. Learn to control your emotions and take those thoughts captive. When you use words of faith and victory God will fight your battles for you. You'll overcome every challenge that you face and you will live the abundant life that God has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
God, make me an instrument of blessing to those around me. I praise You for giving me self control to hold my tongue rather than give life to negative thoughts. I want to have a positive life full of joy; let that be reflected in what I say today. In Jesus' name – Amen.

| YOU HAVE A LOT TO BE THANKFUL FOR |
Jun 10, 2008 4:42 am 629 Views | Today's Scripture
"I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am." (Philippians 4:11)
Are you enjoying life? If not, maybe it's because you are taking for granted what you already have. You may think, "Well, I can't enjoy my life. I've got too many problems." Let me encourage you not to focus on what you don't have, and begin focusing on the good things in your life. Take just a moment today and thank God for your health and strength. If you suddenly lost your health and felt miserable, you would be overjoyed to be in the same position you are today. Thank God for you job, it may be difficult at times but it's one source of God's provision for your needs.
Thank God for the blessings you have right now. Nothing will hinder your relationship with the Lord and stop you from going further to the next level than having an ungrateful, unthankful attitude. Make a decision that you're going to start being happy right where you are. The Apostle Paul was content. This mighty man of God had discovered the secret of true happiness – enjoy life regardless of your circumstances.
If you don't get happy where you are, you will never get to where you want to be. Learn to enjoy every stage of life's journey. Have a grateful attitude and be content no matter where you are. If you do, God will take you to victory and you'll live the abundant, joy-filled life He has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
God, I am incredibly blessed! Thank You for all the wonderful things You have given me. Thank You for having a good plan for my life. I will praise you always. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| You Are Highly Favored |
Jun 9, 2008 4:02 am 623 Views | Today's Scripture
"And the angel said, 'Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.'"
Luke 1.28
Did you know that as a child of God, you are highly favored? No matter what you may have done in the past, as soon as you make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, you have favor with God!
Mary didn't understand how or why she had God's favor, or what that favor was for. At that moment, she didn't know that she was chosen as a pure and holy vessel to bring Christ to the world. Friend, you have God's favor for the very same reason as Mary – because God chose you and made you a pure and holy vessel to bring Christ to your home, workplace, and even the world.
Stay focused on sharing "the message" of God's love with all those you come in contact with. And remember that today, and everyday, you are highly favored and the Lord is with you!
A Prayer for Today
God, I have an awesome responsibility to share Your message with the world. It is my gift to You to embrace that calling. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| NEW EVERY MORNING |
Jun 6, 2008 2:45 am 741 Views | Today's Scripture
“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness”
(Lamentations 3:22-23 ).
You may have done something last week or last month that you're not particularly happy about, but the good news is you don't have to carry that around with you. That's part of what the Scripture means when it says that God's mercies are new every morning. God's mercy and forgiveness are available to you each and every day. His compassions never fail. That means that as soon as you call on Him and repent and change your ways, God pours out His compassion and forgiveness. Simply open your heart and receive it. You can have a new beginning every single day! Do you feel like there's something between you and God right now? Take a moment and call on His faithfulness. Call on His mercy. Ask for His forgiveness. Don't waste another moment in the past. Let Him refresh and restore your soul right now. Praise Him and thank Him for the work He is doing in your life and enjoy a fresh new beginning today!
A Prayer for Today
God, I don't want to go through another day dragging the weight of the past. Thank You for opening the door of that prison and setting me free. Help me to claim and enjoy Your new mercies each day. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

| A WELL-BALANCED CHRISTIAN |
Jun 5, 2008 2:34 am 555 Views | Today's Scripture
"Be well-balanced, for your enemy goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour."
(I Peter 5:8 )
Excess is the enemy's playground. He knows that if he can get you over into extremes in any area, then he can keep you from experiencing God's best. When you get out of balance, you give the enemy a foothold. But when you have your priorities in order, there's security, protection, and safety. When you are taking care of yourself, your family, and your relationship with God, you are going to be strong and healthy. The enemy won't have a chance!
We encourage you to examine your heart and life today. Ask the Lord to show you if there are areas where you may be out of balance. Ask Him to help you make the right adjustments so that you are able to be effective in every area of your life. As you work towards balance, you will walk in the abundant life that God has prepared for you!
A Prayer for Today
God, I will not let the busyness of life dictate my priorities. I will consciously choose how I spend my time and my money so that my priorities align with Your purpose. You are my priority! In Jesus' Name – Amen.
