I like to travel and see the world. But I don't want to do the type of travel where you only change climate. I want to stay in small family owned hotels or villas, get to know the local people and learn about their culture and their concerns. I read a lot of different types of media and books in order to have a well-rounded and well-informed view of the world. I like to discuss world issues or personal issues with friends. I mentor many young people. My family is very important to me and so is caring for my house and garden. I drive an old car because it is paid for and works just fine. So, why do I need a new one? However, I dress well and have way too many shoes. Different priorities I guess! I like to be outdoors in the fresh air as much as possible. I eat al fresco at every opportunity. I will read a book on the porch, go for a walk in the neighbourhood in the park. I grew up on a sailboat each summer and taught sailing for many years. I have sailed across the Atlantic, along the coasts of Ireland, Scotland, Turkey, and New Zealand. Unfortunately, I have been landbound for several years, but would like to get on the wtaer again. I enjoy cooking meals for and with friends and entertaining others. Since I seem to be constantly on the go, an ideal evening for me is to stay at home and watch a movie or read a good book in front of the fireplace. I like to cuddle and am a very tactile person.
I am looking for someone who is equally comfortable going out dancing or staying home for a nice home-cooked meal. I require a person who is interested in the world and in learning about other cultures. Ideally, he will be from another culture with another language as his first. Or perhaps he will have lived overseas, in and among the local people. My partner should be someone who is intellectually curious, always trying to learn more about many different things. A good sense of humour and the ability to laugh at oneself are a huge plus. I am often on the border between chaos and organisation. Once my organisation system is set up, I am organised and my life is planned. But I like to leave room for spontaneity. My date should do the same.
